AN URGENT APPEAL TO SUPPORT MISSION RAMADHAN IN GAZA FUND
Inshallah, this appeal finds you and your families in the very best of circumstances. Sadly, not all of our brothers and sisters in the world share this good fortune. The Palestinian people continue to live under a cruel occupation regime, subjected to merciless Israeli policies designed to ethnically cleanse Palestine of her people. The situation is especially dire in Gaza, where Israel has imposed a brutal siege that is denying 1.5 million Palestinians basic food, medicine, and the freedoms that we take for granted.
Killing . confiscating and abduction of the Humanitarian Aid in the Freedom Flotilla Mission on the 31st May 2010 by Israel Defense Force (IDF) has triggered the world community to strengthen their resolve to continue pressuring Israel to end the blockade of Gaza and Israel be charged for crimes of war.
Since 2005 , Gaza has become the worlds biggest open prison , bleeding the population to the point of a human catastrophe . This is an Israeli policy supported by US allies including the European Union and Egypt.
Presently Gaza has been systemically destroyed by the Israel blockade: 80% of the population is dependent on foreign aid , 90% lives in poverty , more than half of the family lives on one meal a day , 60% of children are anaemic and undernourished , the land and water have been poisoned and hundred of thousands have lost their homes. Thousands have died due to the blockade which barred medical aids to be supplied into Gaza.
Palestinians in Gaza are oppressed for more than 4 years since 2005 and Palestinians as whole for more than 60 years since 1948. For more than 40 years the Palestinian had to go through inhuman check points , their land are confiscated , facing almost daily Israeli military operation , the houses demolished , children and young men abducted , detained and tortured without any reasons .
The military operation within the 3 weeks attacked on Gaza on the 27th December 2008 – 20th January 2009 killed more than 1,400 Palestinians , more than 80% are civilians. , 6400 houses were destroyed and about 75% public buildings were devastated.
The Israeli military used AS: F-16, helicopter Apache, white phosphorus, depleted uranium, cluster bombs , new weapons like dense inert material explosives (DIME) which injures victims never before treated by doctors . All the weapons were and are still supplied by the USA. The Gaza population was used as military experiment zone for all the new weapons in the military operation . The September 2009 Goldstone Report revealed the innumerable atrocities executed by Israel on Gaza but was rejected and condemned by USA.
MAPIM (Malaysian Muslim NGOs Consultation Council) comprising 24 organizations has committed itself to work for the cause of the Palestinian struggle .
We are announcing to you that an all Malaysian people’s mission for a humanitarian aid to be sent to Gaza will proceed on the 6th August 2010. This mission is called Ramadhan Convoy in Gaza with a theme “ Ramadhan March for Freedom”.This mission will comprise 30-40 people including NGO representatives , member of parliaments , journalist and professionals . The mission will try to transport food and medical aid into Gaza through the Rafah crossing via Eygpt. The mission is also an attempt to call on the Egyptian authority to open permanently the Rafah crossing.
We are making an appeal to you to part away a little portion of your income to contribute to this mission.
We are also intending to build a children’s hospital in the north of Gaza as a major contribution from the Malaysian people. Negotiation with the Gaza Authorities are in the process.
Your contribution will be a significant and meaningful one as this would have a long term effect on the Palestinians in Gaza.

We are asking for your zakat and fitra this Ramadan, but not as simple charity ‐ we’re asking for zakat as political action. Palestine does not need charity. Palestine is not a poor country, and Palestinians are not a poor people. They are being forced into poverty.
The people of Gaza are being collectively punished by Israel for the “crime” of being Palestinian. This is unacceptable. We believe that it’s our collective responsibility and take direct action to end this unjust siege, and we are asking for your help and participation. Thank you for your consideration.
